March 31 - April 2, 2017 in Orlando FL

The South East Uilleann Piper's Club is making preparations for our 15th Tionól with a weekend of Irish music sessions, workshops, and a concert for Uilleann Pipes and Fiddle.

All sessions, workshops, concert and classes will be at the Canterbury Retreat and Conference Center, camaraderie included. We encourage you to also room and board at the Retreat Center over the weekend. You can opt for this on our registration page. The Retreat Center is located just northwest of Orlando, about 30 minutes from Orlando International Airport. This is a BYOB event, but some beer & wine will be available during the concert. Donations gratefully accepted.

Instructors

We're excited that Eamonn Dillon, James Kelly, Neilidh Mulligan, Deb Quigley and Nick Whitmer will be instructors and performing at the concert this year. Please see the Instructors page for more information.

Classes

For fiddle classes, there will be one teacher for all attendees. Depending on the agenda of the instructor and students, classes will delve into learning tunes, technique, and the fundamental building blocks of traditional Irish music. Please be sure to bring your questions and a recording device!

For piping classes, students will be organized according to their level of playing (usually indicated by the amount of time a student has been playing). Communication with the SE Tionól Organization team is encouraged if you are not sure which level and class you should be in. Classes could include learning the grip, mastering the “nyah” in your C-natural, discussions of technique and ornamentation, learning tunes… it will be dependent on what the teacher thinks is important to helping the class become better pipers. Questions are encouraged!
